Dryer Vent Cleaning in Sugar Land, TX

A Sugar Land homeowner over in the Telfair area called about a dryer that had stopped keeping up — clothes coming out damp after a full cycle, and the laundry room getting warm and humid every time it ran. Those are the classic signs of a vent that has filled in, and when we opened the line, that is exactly what we found.

What we found

Lint slips past the dryer’s screen on every load and settles along the vent run, a little more each time. In this line it had built into a thick ring that choked the duct down to a fraction of its opening. The pile you see here is what came out of a single vent — years of buildup packed into the run.

That restriction does two things. It traps heat and moisture, so the dryer runs longer and works harder to dry a load, which wears the unit out early and drives up the power bill. And lint is highly flammable — failure to keep dryer vents clean is the leading cause of home dryer fires, according to the National Fire Protection Association. If your dryer takes two cycles, the laundry room feels hot when it runs, or the outside flap barely opens, those are the warning signs.

What we did

We cleaned the full run, from the dryer connection all the way out to the exterior vent hood. The line was brushed and vacuumed under negative pressure so the lint pulled back toward the vacuum instead of scattering, and we cleared the termination so the flap moves freely and air actually exits. Then we checked airflow at the outside vent to confirm the run was open end to end.

By the end the duct is back to bare metal and the air moves the way it should. The dryer can breathe again, which means shorter cycles, less wear, and a lot less fire risk.

Why dryer vent cleaning matters

This is the cleaning most people forget about. It does not get the attention air ducts do, but it is the one with a real safety stake attached. For an average household we recommend having the vent cleaned once a year — sooner if you have a long duct run, a large family, or you are drying heavy loads often.

This was a straightforward dryer vent cleaning, quoted up front with no surprises — just the full line cleared the way it should be.
